Give it a company domain and get back its SemRush traffic figure, top organic keywords and backlink count — the SEO read on an account, for 2 credits.
semrush_insights takes one company domain and returns its SemRush traffic figure, top organic keywords and backlink count. It is the SEO member of the SyncGTM MCP traffic family: pick it over find_company_website_traffic when you need keyword and link signals, not just a visit count. One domain per call, 2 credits per call.
Takes one input, a bare `domain` such as acme.com. That is the only parameter — no country filter, no date range, no keyword limit.
Returns four fields per domain: `domain`, a `traffic` figure, `top_organic_keywords`, and a `backlinks` count.
Keywords come back as bare strings — no search volume, no ranking position, no CPC — and `backlinks` is a count, not a list of linking domains. It is a top slice, not a full keyword export.
Runs one domain per call. A 15-domain list is 15 separate calls, so batch size is a spend decision, not a setting.
Does not return traffic sources, audience data, competitor sets, ad creative, tech stack, firmographics, emails or phone numbers.
Goes thin on small and very new domains. An empty result means the site sits below SemRush's coverage threshold, not that it has no traffic. The call still costs 2 credits either way.
Download the skill file — it saves as semrush-insights.zip.
In Claude, open Settings → Capabilities → Skills and upload the .zip (or unzip the semrush-insights/ folder into .claude/skills/ for Claude Code).
Connect the SyncGTM MCP server at docs.syncgtm.com/mcp_server/setup. Browser sign-in, no API key.
Paste your domains and type /semrush-insights. Use bare domains — acme.com, not https://www.acme.com/pricing.
Tune the one setting worth changing: the batch cap, default 20 domains (40 credits). Say 'set the semrush-insights batch cap to 10' before a long list.
Rank a target list by organic keyword count and backlink volume to find the accounts already investing in SEO. Sales teams selling content, link building or SEO software work the top of that list first.
Pull top organic keywords for a prospect and two competitors, then open the cold email with the exact term they are losing. Three calls, 6 credits, and you have a personalized first line.
Build the proof slide for an SEO or content pitch: current traffic, what the prospect ranks for today, and how thin their backlink count is against the category.
Re-run tracked accounts each quarter and flag keyword or backlink drops. A declining organic profile is a clean trigger to re-open a closed-lost account.
Outcome: An 8-row outreach list carrying contact name, title, work email, organic keyword count, backlink count and the one-line SEO gap to lead with, for 102 credits — against 112 if you had skipped the 1-credit screen and run SemRush on all 40.
Outcome: A three-line cold email per account for 9.3 credits: the keyword a named competitor outranks them on, the ad creative they are buying to cover that gap, and a reference to the marketing lead's own recent post — sent to a business address.
Outcome: A 20-row watchlist with quarter-on-quarter traffic, keyword and backlink deltas, declines flagged, and a named new-hire trigger with an email on the accounts worth re-opening this month.
Paste any of these into Claude once the skill is installed and the SyncGTM MCP is connected.
Get SemRush insights for stripe.com. Give me traffic, top organic keywords and backlink count in one table.Run semrush_insights on these 8 domains, one call each (16 credits total), and rank them by organic keyword count: shopify.com, bigcommerce.com, wix.com, squarespace.com, webflow.com, bigcartel.com, ecwid.com, volusion.com. Flag anyone with high traffic and a thin backlink count.Screen these 12 domains with find_company_website_traffic at 1 credit each, then run semrush_insights on only the top 5 by traffic (10 credits). Total should be 22 credits — stop and ask me before it goes higher. hubspot.com, marketo.com, pardot.com, activecampaign.com, drip.com, omnisend.com, moosend.com, sendinblue.com, getresponse.com, aweber.com, constantcontact.com, mailerlite.comRun semrush_insights for klaviyo.com, mailchimp.com and brevo.com (3 calls, 6 credits). Tell me which organic keywords klaviyo ranks for that the other two do not, then draft a one-line cold email opener from the biggest gap.Use find_companies with industries ["Software Development"], countries ["United States"], employee_count_ranges ["51-200"] and limit 25 (7.5 credits). Then run semrush_insights on the 10 with the most traffic (20 credits) and flag any returning over 100,000 traffic with fewer than 5,000 backlinks.Say "SEO", "keywords" or "backlinks" in the prompt. That wording is what routes the request here instead of to the 1-credit find_company_website_traffic.
Screen only when you will cut deep. find_company_website_traffic costs 1 credit per domain and saves 2 per domain you then skip, so screening pays only below the halfway mark: keep 15 of 40 and you spend 70 instead of 80. Keep most of the list and the screen costs you money.
Pass a bare domain — acme.com, not https://www.acme.com/blog. One domain per call and no batch mode, so a 20-domain list is always 40 credits.
Read a thin or empty result as "below SemRush coverage", not "no traffic". Small and very new domains routinely return little data, and the call still costs 2 credits, so filter obvious micro-sites out first.
Do not read volumes or positions into the keywords — the tool returns bare strings, and `backlinks` is a count rather than a list of linking domains. For audience data, traffic sources or competitor sets use similarweb_insights (2 credits, and it takes an array of domains); for industry, headcount and funding use enrich_organization (2 credits).
Ask for the conclusion, not the dump. "Which keywords are they losing to competitors?" returns a usable opener; "list their keywords" returns a list you still have to read.
