6 Best Email Databases for Australia in 2026 (Spam Act Ready)

Kushal Magar

By Kushal Magar · October 12, 2026 · 12 min read

Key Takeaway

An email database Australia teams can defend is judged on where each address was published and how many land, not on record count. The Spam Act 2003 requires consent, which can be inferred from a conspicuously published work address only when your message is relevant to the person's role, and every send needs sender identification and a working unsubscribe honoured within five working days. Test any vendor on a 200 to 500 contact sample from your own ICP and re-verify right before sending.

TL;DR

The best email database Australia buyers can choose is the one with a clear source trail and a low bounce rate on your own accounts, not the biggest record count. The short version follows.

  • Best for waterfall coverage and pre-send verification: SyncGTM, 50+ providers queried in sequence
  • Best ANZ-first source with AUD pricing: Firmable, from AU$80 per user per month billed annually
  • Best for LinkedIn-side lookups: Lusha, free plan with 40 credits a month
  • Best finder for a known account list: Hunter.io, 0.5 credit verification
  • Best large self-serve pool: Apollo.io, free plan available
  • Best budget finder plus outreach: Snov.io

Email Database Australia: Spam Act 2003, Inferred Consent and the Privacy Act

Australia has no carve-out for business email. The same Spam Act that governs consumer marketing applies to a cold message to a head of sales, and the regulator has been issuing six- and seven-figure penalties. Here is what that means for the list you buy or build.

Consent: express, or inferred from publication

The Spam Act 2003bars commercial electronic messages without the recipient's consent. Consent is express when the person agreed, or inferred from conduct and the relationship. Schedule 2 also has a dedicated provision on inferring consent from the publication of an electronic address.

In practice that means a work address shown prominently on a company site, brochure or directory, with no notice saying commercial messages are unwelcome, and a message that relates to what that person does. A founder's published address does not justify an offer for something their company would never buy. The ACMA's guidance on avoiding spam is the page to give your legal reviewer.

Identify yourself and unsubscribe in five working days

Every commercial message must carry accurate sender details and a functioning way to opt out. Requests need to be actioned within five working days. An unsubscribe link that breaks after a week is a breach.

What recent ACMA penalties show

The ACMA announced in April 2026 that Latitude Finance paid A$3.96 million, after it found more than 2.3 million marketing messages without accurate contact information, 344,416 of which also lacked a working unsubscribe. In March, Lululemon paid A$702,900 because messages it called service emails, such as order confirmations, also had a clear marketing purpose. In July, TAB paid more than A$2.7 million across spam and telemarketing breaches.

None of those were cold B2B campaigns, but the pattern carries over: regulators check the footer and the unsubscribe path, not only the list source.

Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles

A work address that names a person is personal information. Where the Privacy Act applies to your organisation, the Australian Privacy Principles govern how you collect it and when you may use it for direct marketing. Ask a lawyer whether your business is covered, and whether any exemptions apply.

ABN-linked company data

Australian companies carry an ABN, and the public ABN Lookup shows whether a business is active. Use it to drop deregistered entities from a list before you send. Matching each contact to a live ABN also helps spot sole traders, who often trade under a personal name and make consent harder to argue.

Compliance does not fix bad data. Pair it with a verifier from our email validation services guide and compare the US approach in the email database USA guide. For UK rules see the email database UK guide, and for dialling see the phone number database Australia guide. For local company data, read our best B2B databases for Australia. This is general information, not legal advice.

1. SyncGTM

SyncGTM is a GTM data platform best suited for Australian teams that want one verified email per contact without juggling several vendor logins. It waterfalls email finding across 50+ providers, so when one source comes up empty for an Australian contact, the next is tried.

A single database tends to favour Sydney and Melbourne tech companies, and regional or trade businesses often return nothing. A waterfall lifts the valid-email rate on exactly those gaps, and each address is verified before export. See the method in our waterfall email finder roundup, or estimate spend with the credits estimator.

SyncGTM enriches the companies and people you pick rather than selling a fixed list. Because you chose the account, you can write down why that role is relevant to your offer, which is the record the Spam Act inferred-consent test asks for. Results sync natively to Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Attio and Close.

Pros

  • Queries 50+ providers in sequence for higher Australian fill rates
  • Verifies every address before it reaches a sequence
  • Native sync to Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Attio and Close
  • Free tier to test on your own Australian account list

Cons

  • No downloadable static Australian list
  • Credit usage varies with how many providers a lookup needs
  • Consent reasoning and unsubscribe handling remain your job

Best for: Australian outbound teams that care about bounce rate and want one verified address per contact.

Pricing: Free tier available. See the pricing page for current plans.

2. Firmable

Firmable is an ANZ-focused sales intelligence platform best suited for Australian teams that want a local source for work emails and mobiles in the same profile. Each unlocked profile includes available emails and mobiles, and one profile uses one credit from your yearly allowance.

Its Australian pricing page lists AUD, which most global tools do not: Individual at AU$80 per user per month billed annually (AU$165 on monthly billing), Small Teams at AU$110, Teams Pro at AU$165 and Enterprise at AU$240, all excluding GST. The pricing page gives no Australian email coverage rate, so measure it yourself during the 14-day trial.

Pros

  • AUD pricing published, with GST shown separately
  • Emails and mobiles come in one profile, one credit
  • Local company registers included from the Small Teams plan up

Cons

  • No coverage percentages or ABN fields on the pricing page
  • Yearly profile allowance caps volume on smaller plans
  • Monthly billing requires a credit card at a higher rate

Best for: Australian and New Zealand sales teams that want a local-first source and AUD invoices.

Pricing: Individual AU$80 per user per month billed annually (AU$165 monthly), Small Teams AU$110, Teams Pro AU$165, Enterprise AU$240. Excludes GST.

3. Lusha

Lusha is a contact lookup tool best suited for reps who research Australian prospects one LinkedIn profile at a time. A verified email costs 1 credit and a phone number costs 5, so email-only prospecting makes your credits last longest.

Prices are shown in US dollars, so Australian buyers should budget for exchange-rate movement. Lusha does not decide whether your message may be sent: under the Spam Act that call, and the record of it, stays with you.

Pros

  • Free plan with 40 credits a month to test Australian coverage
  • Email lookups cost a fifth of a phone lookup
  • Fast to use for a handful of accounts per day

Cons

  • USD pricing only, with no AUD price list found
  • Lookup tool rather than a bulk list builder
  • Credit allowance is small on the entry plan

Best for: Individual reps doing targeted research on a small set of Australian accounts.

Pricing: Free (40 credits), Starter US$49.90/mo monthly or US$37.45/mo annual, Professional US$69.90/mo, Premium US$399.90/mo.

4. Hunter.io

Hunter.io is a domain-based email finder best suited for teams that already hold a list of Australian target companies from the ABN lookup or a CRM and need the right address per person. Enter a domain and it returns known addresses with confidence scores.

A credit is spent only when an address is found, and verification costs half a credit per email. That makes Hunter a low-cost last check before an Australian send, especially because a bounce also hurts your sender reputation.

Pros

  • No credit used when a search finds nothing
  • Free plan with 50 credits a month
  • Cheap re-verification at 0.5 credit per address

Cons

  • Prices are in dollars with no named AUD option
  • Needs a domain you supply, so it cannot filter an Australian market
  • Monthly credits reset and do not roll over

Best for: Teams with a defined Australian account list that want pattern-based finding plus verification.

Pricing: Free (50 credits); Starter US$49/mo or US$34/mo billed yearly for 2,000 credits; Growth US$149/mo; Scale US$299/mo.

5. Apollo.io

Apollo.io is a prospecting database and sequencer best suited for small teams that want a big, filterable pool and sending in one product. Its Australian landing page promises contacts segmented by state, industry and company size, with CSV and CRM export.

That page describes the data as verified and spam-compliant but gives no Australian contact count, no source detail and no explanation of how compliance is met. Ask for those answers in writing before you rely on the label.

Pros

  • Filters by Australian state, industry and company size
  • Free plan to test coverage in your segment
  • Sequencing and CRM sync in the same tool

Cons

  • No Australia-specific coverage figures published
  • Compliance claims are not explained
  • Re-verify exports before a high-volume send

Best for: Early-stage teams that want search and sending together at a low entry cost.

Pricing: Free plan, then paid tiers. Check current pricing on the vendor page.

Read the full Apollo.io review.

6. Snov.io

Snov.io is an email finder and drip tool best suited for small teams that want finding, verifying and sequencing under one login. It looks up addresses from domains and LinkedIn and verifies them before they enter a campaign.

It is a finder rather than a curated Australian database, so coverage depends on what is discoverable for your target companies. Run a sample before paying, and keep every unsubscribe inside your own suppression list.

Pros

  • Finder, verifier and drip campaigns in one tool
  • Lower entry cost than most database vendors
  • Useful for small batches to a defined account list

Cons

  • No Australia-specific compliance material highlighted
  • Coverage varies by company size and sector
  • Plans change often; confirm before buying

Best for: Small teams on a budget that want finding and outreach together.

Pricing: Trial available. Check current pricing on the vendor page.

Five Questions to Ask Any Australian Vendor

No vendor can make your outreach lawful. These five questions show whether they will help you prove it.

  • Where was this address published? Inferred consent depends on the address being conspicuously published. A vendor that cannot say whether it came from a company website, directory or a purchased file leaves you unable to defend the send.
  • Does the data record the person's role? The message must relate to the recipient's work. Role and seniority fields let you match your offer to the job title, which is the test an investigator will apply.
  • How are unsubscribes and suppressions shared? Someone who opts out must stay out of your next export. Ask whether the vendor syncs a suppression list, or plan to hold your own.
  • When was the address last verified? People change jobs and domains lapse. Ask for a verification date per record and re-verify in the week you send.
  • Can you sample 300 contacts from my ICP? A free sample on your own accounts beats any coverage claim. Count the deliverable addresses, not the rows returned.

For tools that locate rather than store addresses, see the best B2B email finder tools.

How to Choose

If you sell mainly in Australia and New Zealand and want AUD invoices, trial Firmable first. If you already hold a target list, Hunter.io plus a verifier is the cheapest route. If you want search and sending together, start with Apollo.io.

If one vendor keeps missing your regional targets, a waterfall such as SyncGTM fills the gaps and verifies before export. Whatever you pick, run the same 300-contact sample through each trial, divide spend by deliverable addresses, keep a note of why each role is relevant, and action every unsubscribe within five working days.
