Overview

mcp-quickstart is the first thing to run on a new MCP connection. It calls check_credits (free) to prove the connection, auth and tool routing all work, lists the 50 available tools by family, runs one real lookup so you can check the data against something you already know, and brackets any new workflow with a before-and-after credit check so its per-row cost is measured rather than guessed.

How it works

  1. 1

Calls check_credits — free, no arguments — to verify connection, auth and tool routing in one step

  2. 2

Lists the ~50 available tools grouped by family, with the tools page linked for full credit costs

  3. 3

Runs one linkedin_profile_enrich against a profile you already know, so you test the data and not just the connection

  4. 4

Brackets any uncosted workflow: balance, small run, balance again, then reports the delta and per-row cost

  5. 5

Diagnoses the two common failures — an instant answer means no tool fired, an auth error means an expired browser session

How to use it

  1. 1

Download the skill file — it saves as mcp-quickstart.zip.

  2. 2

In Claude, open Settings → Capabilities → Skills and upload the .zip (or unzip the mcp-quickstart/ folder into .claude/skills/ for Claude Code).

  3. 3

Run it once after connecting the MCP server to any new client.

  4. 4

Trigger it anytime by typing /mcp-quickstart, or whenever a run costs more than you expected.
