SignalHire vs ContactOut: Contact Finder Pricing Compared 2026
By Kushal Magar · October 19, 2026 · 9 min read
Key Takeaway
SignalHire sells credits, charging one only when a contact is returned, with published tiers from $69 per month. ContactOut limits exports rather than reveals, and its pricing page showed no usable figures when checked, so confirm current pricing. Compare both on cost per usable contact, test them on your own targets, and use waterfall enrichment for the misses.
SignalHire vs ContactOut is mostly a pricing-model question: SignalHire charges credits per successful lookup, while ContactOut sells plans where reveals are fair-use but exports are capped. Both reveal emails and phones from LinkedIn profiles, so this guide compares them on credit rules, plan pricing, and cost per contact, using published figures only.
We show every cost-per-contact number as arithmetic you can check, flag every accuracy figure as a vendor claim, and finish with how to cover the contacts neither tool finds.
SignalHire vs ContactOut: TL;DR
Short answer: SignalHire is simpler to budget because credits are published and only spent on a successful result. ContactOut is the stronger fit when personal email coverage matters, but its limits sit on exports and seats, so read the caps before buying. Add a waterfall for anything either misses.
| Dimension | SignalHire | ContactOut |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing unit | Credits; 1 credit per successful Get Contacts | Reveals under fair use; exports capped |
| Entry paid plan | $69/mo, 1,000 email credits (page) | $49/mo Email (our Sept 2026 review) |
| Annual price | $57/mo billed annually, 12,000 email credits (page) | $39/mo billed annually (our Sept 2026 review) |
| Phones | Separate plan: 435 credits for $69/mo (page) | Email + Phone, $99/mo (our Sept 2026 review) |
| Bulk limit | Fair-usage cap on unlimited plans (our review) | 300 or 600 exports per month (our review) |
| Users | Unlimited users (page) | One user per company on self-serve (our review) |
| Personal email focus | Not a headline feature | Yes, headline feature |
SignalHire figures are from its pricing page and ContactOut figures from our September 2026 review, because ContactOut’s pricing page showed no usable plan figures when we checked. Check current pricing on both before buying.
How We Compared Them (No Hands-On Test)
We did not run a head-to-head test. We did not look up the same profiles in both tools and record hit rates. Pricing and credit rules come from SignalHire’s pricing page; for ContactOut, whose pricing page lists no credit allowances, plan prices and caps come from our ContactOut review (as of September 2026). For SignalHire context, see our SignalHire review.
We also read two published comparisons of these tools. Their prices disagree with each other and with the vendor pages, and neither shares test data, so we did not use their numbers.
Credit Models and Plan Pricing
SignalHire: its pricing page says each Get Contacts click subtracts one credit only if at least one email or phone number is returned. Plans are split by data type. Emails costs $69 per month for 1,000 credits, or $57 per month billed annually for 12,000 credits. Phones costs $69 per month for 435 credits, or $57 per month billed annually for 5,400 credits. Unlimited variants exist at higher prices, and paid plans include unlimited users. Free users get 5 credits, or 10 per month with the extension.
ContactOut: the pricing page displayed no plan amounts or credit allowances when we checked, so check current pricing before you decide. In our review, as of September 2026, Email was $49 per month ($39 billed annually) and Email + Phone was $99 per month ($79 billed annually), with unlimited reveals under a fair use policy and a 300 or 600 monthly export cap. See our ContactOut alternatives guide for other options.
Cost per Contact: The Arithmetic
Cost per contact is plan price divided by the contacts the plan allows. The table shows each calculation. SignalHire rows divide by published credits and assume every credit returns a contact. ContactOut rows divide by the export cap and assume you use all of it, so they are a best-case ceiling per export, not a per-reveal price.
| Plan | Arithmetic | Per contact |
|---|---|---|
| SignalHire Emails, monthly | $69 / 1,000 credits | $0.069 |
| SignalHire Emails, annual | $57 x 12 = $684 / 12,000 credits | $0.057 |
| SignalHire Phones, monthly | $69 / 435 credits | $0.159 |
| SignalHire Phones, annual | $57 x 12 = $684 / 5,400 credits | $0.127 |
| ContactOut Email, monthly | $49 / 300 exports | $0.163 |
| ContactOut Email, annual | $39 x 12 = $468 / (300 x 12 = 3,600) exports | $0.130 |
| ContactOut Email + Phone, monthly | $99 / 600 exports | $0.165 |
| ContactOut Email + Phone, annual | $79 x 12 = $948 / (600 x 12 = 7,200) exports | $0.132 |
SignalHire: SignalHire pricing page. ContactOut: our September 2026 review. Figures rounded to the nearest tenth of a cent and exclude taxes and promotions.
Two caveats. First, ContactOut’s reveals are not capped the way exports are, so a user who reveals without exporting pays less per reveal than the table suggests. Second, unused SignalHire credits are described as usable until the end of the billing cycle, so under-using a plan raises your real cost per contact. Misses and bounces add cost on either side. Bulk Limits and Fair Use
SignalHire’s pricing page does not list a bulk limit, but our review notes a fair-usage cap of around 5,000 credits per month on the unlimited annual options, disclosed in tooltip text. ContactOut caps exports at 300 or 600 per month and limits self-serve plans to one user per company, per our review. Team and API plans on ContactOut are sold through sales.
For a recruiter pulling a few dozen profiles a day, neither limit bites. For a team building lists into a CRM, the cap you hit first decides which tool is really cheaper.
Accuracy: Vendor Claims Only
SignalHire markets 95% email accuracy, and ContactOut promotes real-time verification. Both are vendor claims, and neither is an independent benchmark. We did not test either tool, so we do not rank them on accuracy.
To get a real answer, take 50 public LinkedIn profiles from your market, look each up on both free tiers, verify every email returned, and compare hit and bounce rates. That sample tells you more than any quoted percentage.
GDPR and Personal Email Compliance
Personal email addresses are personal data. If you contact people in the EU or UK, GDPR applies: you need a lawful basis, transparency about where you got the data, and an easy opt-out. The UK regulator’s UK GDPR guidance is a good starting point.
Neither pricing page we checked discusses GDPR, so do not assume the tool handles compliance for you. Personal-email coverage, ContactOut’s main selling point, is also the higher-risk data for European outreach. This is not legal advice; have counsel review your approach.
Which One Should You Pick?
Choose SignalHire if you:
- Want credits you can budget per lookup, spent only on a result
- Need several teammates on one account (unlimited users)
- Mostly look up work email and are fine buying phones separately
Choose ContactOut if you:
- Need personal emails alongside work emails from LinkedIn
- Are a solo user or small team that stays under the export caps
- Have confirmed current plan terms with ContactOut

Filling the Misses with SyncGTM
Each tool is a single source, so some contacts come back empty. SyncGTM fills those gaps with waterfall enrichment across 50+ providers: if one source misses an email or phone, the next is tried. It can also help dedupe and clean up your CRM, so repeated exports from SignalHire or ContactOut do not leave duplicate records. See how waterfall email finders work.
